The station is located at the intersection of the key highway in the central part of Pest of Andrássy Avenue and Bayza Street, which gave the station its name. On the section between the Baichi-илиilinski ut and Höscökere stations, the M1 line runs under Andrássy Avenue.
The station was opened on May 2, 1896 as part of the first line of the Budapest Metro, which also became the first metro line in continental Europe.
