Remy Povreau is a French politician, a former deputy of the French National Assembly, a former mayor of Maubeuge , a member of the Socialist Party .

Biography
Born July 1, 1952 in Otmon (Department of Nor ). A member of the Socialist Party , at a party congress in Reims in November 2008, was a member of Group D, supporting Mayor Lille Martin Aubrey . After the election of Aubrey as the first secretary of the Socialist Party, he became a member of the national council of the party, oversees international relations.
In the elections to the National Assembly in 2012, he was elected a Socialist candidate in the 3rd constituency of the Department of Nor and won, receiving 52.18% of the vote in the 2nd round.
In the 2014 municipal elections in Maubeuge, Remy Povro lost to right-wing candidate Arno Decagni and resigned as mayor for 13 years. He became a member of the city council, but after the scandal related to the financing of his election campaign, he left the city council.
In the elections to the National Assembly of 2017 in the 3rd constituency of the department, Nor did not go to the 2nd round, taking 3rd place in the 1st round with 14.74% of the vote.
