Biography
He was destined for the clergyhip with his strictly Catholic father, but after the death of his father he converted to Protestantism , in which he was secretly brought up by his mother.
After traveling to Italy, Germany, Holland and England in 1575 he entered the service of Heinrich of Navarre (the future French king Henry IV ) and rendered him many services during the war with the League . In 1593, because of the opposition against Henry's conversion to Catholicism , fell into disgrace.
Believers enjoyed great respect for religious zeal and scholarship; he was nicknamed the "Huguenot dad ."

- contemporaries called Duplessis Morne the "Huguenot Pope";
- in the city of Saumur, Duplessis-Morne founded the first Protestant academy in France;
- Duplessis Morne is considered one of the "monarchs" - publicists and political theorists of the times of European religious wars who opposed the absolute monarchy.
