He graduated from the Ostrava Conservatory ( 1958 ) in viola, conducting and composition, then improved as an violist and conductor at the Janacek Academy in Brno . He made his debut as a performer, and then as a conductor as part of the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra , then returned to Ostrava, where he headed the chamber orchestra. In 1971 - 1982 viola accompanist in the Italian Switzerland Orchestra . In 1986 - 2002 headed the Chamber Orchestra of Southwest Germany . He also conducted the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra , the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra and other bands from Switzerland, Germany and Italy.
