Tatarstan Metropolis ( tat. Tatarstan Metropolitan ) - the metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan . It unites the Kazan , Almetyevsk and Chistopol dioceses.

History
In accordance with the Provision on regional bishops from March 12, 1934 in pursuance of the decree of the Local Council of 1917-1918 on the metropolitan districts, the Provisional Patriarchal Holy Synod formed churches in several dioceses, including a metropolis with the center in Kazan [1] . The date of the abolition is unknown. Most likely this happened in 1943 during the reorganization of the episcopal departments.
On June 6, 2012, by a resolution of the Holy Synod , the Tatarstan Metropolis was formed as part of the Kazan and Almetyevsk and Chistopol eparchies isolated from it [2] . The head of the Tatarstan Metropolis has the title of Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan .
Composition of the Metropolis

Diocese of Almetyevsk
It unites parishes in the administrative borders of Aznakaevsky , Aktanyshsky , Almetyevsky , Bavlinsky , Bugulminsky , Zainsky , Leninogorsksky , Muslyumovsky , Sarmanovsky and Yutazinsky districts of the Republic of Tatarstan .
Kazan Diocese
It unites parishes and monasteries on the territory of Kazan , Naberezhnye Chelny ; Agryzsky , Apaski , Astra , Tyulyachinsky districts of the Republic of Tatarstan .
Chistopol Diocese
It unites parishes in the administrative boundaries of Aksubaevsky , Alekseevsky , Alkeyevsky , Nizhnekamsky , Novosheshminsky , Nurlatsky , Spassky , Cheremshansky and Chistopolsky districts of the Republic of Tatarstan .
