Biography

From a Jewish family. She studied at Hunter College, New York University , the Juilliard School of Music, where her mastermind was Sergius Kagen and where she met her future second husband, baritone bass Thomas Stewart (they married in 1955 ; Evelyn's first husband was a doctor and political activist Walter Lear. ). Both of them went to study at the Berlin High School of Music in 1957 under the Fultbright program .

Creativity

She made her debut as a composer in Richard Strauss's opera Ariadne na Naxos in the German Opera . Her Austrian debut was the title role in the concert performance of Lulu Alban Berg ( 1960 ). She played in the cinema and on the stage: she played the role of Nina Cavallini in the film Robert Altman Buffalo Bill and the Indians ( 1976 ), in 1989 she acted as Queen Elizabeth I in the musical Elizabeth and Essex (based on the play by Maxwell Anderson ). Actively sang works of contemporary composers - Johnny Johnson Kurt Weil , Dismissal in the city of Bernstein , the betrothal at San Domingo Werner Egka , Mourning - the fate of Electra Marvin David Levy, Thomas Pastieri Gull , Rudolf Kelterborn's Cherry Orchard , etc.
