Settlement of Nations

Ethnographic map of Adygea (2010)

Adygeians (Circassians, Circassians) live mainly in 45 auls , as well as in the town of Maikop, the settlement of Enem, the settlement of Yablonovsky and the settlement of Tlyustenhabl. The most compactly settled in Tahtamukaysky, Teuchezhsky, Shovgenovsky, Koshekhablsky and Krasnogvardeysky areas.

In 1998, a group of Circassians (42 families [61] ( about 200 people), settled in Maikop and the new aul Mafehabl (Maykop district).

The rest of the population in rural areas lives in villages, farms, villages and towns.

The Russians are settled throughout the republic, compactly in the Giaginsky and Maikop districts, their numbers are large in the Krasnogvardeysky and Takhtamukaysky districts. The majority of the descendants of the Kuban Cossacks identify themselves as Russians.

Ukrainians are dispersed throughout Adygea. In czarist Russia, the census took into account an adverb (language), not nationality. In this regard, the majority of the Cossack population of the Kuban were taken into account as carriers of the Little Russian dialect and numerically prevailed over the carriers of the Great Russian dialect. Later, when the nationality was taken into account in the census of the population, the majority of Balak carriers declared Russian nationality, in connection with which the number of ethnic Ukrainians in the republic began to yield to the number of Russians.

Tatars live compactly in the farm Kirov (Shovgenovsky district), the hamlets of the Political Department and Otradny (Koshekhablsky district), the village Afipsipe (Tahtamukaysky district) and the city of Maykop.

Armenians are settled compactly in the Maikop district (the farms of Proletarsky, Flower, Northeastern gardens, Shaumyan, the village of Tula, the village of Kuzhorskaya) and the city of Maykop.

Kurds : White villages, Transfiguration, Garden, Elenovsky, Krasnogvardeyskoe, aul. Bzhedughabl (Krasnogvardeysky district).

Greeks : the farm Haverdovsky (urban district Maykop).
