Story
The film is divided by the author into ten chapters.
An alien indistinguishable from man tells his story. Several hundred years ago, he and his relatives from the Andromeda Nebula flew to Earth ...
- I. Requiem for a dying planet
A star named Far Blue Heights was dying: the ice age was coming. Its intelligent inhabitants went on spaceships in search of a better share. Many were lost in space, but some reached Earth.
- II. Alien Founders
The aliens who reached the Earth had grandiose plans for arranging life on it, but nothing came of it. The only noticeable success - one of them became the chairman of the Pentagon Strategic Planning Committee.
- III. Return to Roswell's Secret
The storyteller worked at the CIA and knew the truth of this secret: one of his relatives landed unsuccessfully. He had a “life microform ” with him. Despite protests from the narrator, the government decided to open the sealed case files 50 years ago, and the microform broke loose. I had to send astronauts in search of an alternative to Earth.
- IV. Mission to the edge of the universe
Astronauts using the Galileo spacecraft examined the entire solar system , but did not find places suitable for human life in it. It is clear that one must fly into deep space.
- V. Death of a dream
An alien tells how infinitely vast distances in space, citing the example of the star Alpha Centauri .
- VI. The mathematical theory of chaotic motion
Earth mathematicians have found a way to pierce space by opening "gravity tunnels . " In this they were helped by floor drawings of the Chartres Cathedral . With this discovery, astronauts will soon arrive on the narrator’s home planet, which is filled with liquid helium , hidden beneath the ice. Researchers are beginning to explore the ice world of the new land.
- VII. Secrets of the Blue Heights
Creatures that live under the ice are intelligent, but humans do not feel this and do not make contact. They are entirely occupied with the future colonization of the planet.
- Viii. Utopian ideal of the colony
Having outlined several places for future colonies, earthlings are going back.
- IX. Temporary tunnel
To return to Earth, astronauts need to go through a temporary tunnel, decaying into atoms, and then gathering again. Upon arriving home, they found that it was not 15 years that they had expected, but 820.
- X. The true story of their return
There is not a single person left on Earth, people have long left their home planet, making it a national park .

- Video materials for scenes in space (the first part of the film) were provided by NASA , and real astronauts participate in them: shooting the flight of the Atlantis STS-34 and its five crew members.
- Video materials for scenes on the planet-ocean (the second part of the film; ice shooting on the coast of Antarctica ) were provided by the musician Henry Kaiser ( Henry Kaiser in the credits).
- Filming "on Earth " was carried out in California , in the city of Niland ( Niland ) and the camp of Slab City ( Slab City ).
