Biography
Born on April 23, 1904 in the village of Shcherbovo (now Torzhoksky District, Tver Region) in a working class family. Russian
He studied at the Petrograd Institute of Civil Engineers.
In the Navy since 1923. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1925. In 1927 he graduated from the Naval College, in 1932 - the Yeisk School of Naval Pilots of the Air Force of the Red Army named after I.V. Stalin.
Member of the national revolutionary war of the Spanish people of 1936-1939 , the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940 . In 1938-1939 - Chief of Staff of the Air Force of the Red Banner Baltic Fleet. In 1940 he graduated from advanced training courses of the highest command personnel at the Naval Academy. Since November 1939, he commanded the Air Force of the Northern Fleet.
Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. As commander of the Air Force of the Northern Fleet, Major General A. A. Kuznetsov made 70 sorties. From January 1943, he was an assistant to the commander of the Pacific Air Force for the flight, from March 1945 he was the head of the Naval Aviation School, and from March 1946 he was the head of the Higher Officer Flight Tactical Courses.
From September 1946, Major General A. A. Kuznetsov was the first deputy chief, and then from 1948 to 1953 he was head of the Main Directorate of the Northern Sea Route at the Council of Ministers of the USSR. He distinguished himself during the high-latitude air expeditions of 1948-1949.
“A. Kuznetsov ... skillfully and courageously conducted ice reconnaissance to study areas suitable for ice airfields and organize scientific stations on them. I personally landed at these airfields. At the most critical moment of the work of the expedition at the North Pole, the ice was crushed by compression, which threatened the loss of the aircraft and scientific equipment there. Comrade Kuznetsov personally flew to this area and landed on a wheeled plane on an unprepared ice floe ... He provided his bold leadership for the flight of aircraft and the rescue of scientific equipment. In 1949, Comrade Kuznetsov A.A. led an expedition conducted on a much larger scale and in more difficult meteorological conditions ... He personally carried out reconnaissance flights and the first landed in the most difficult ice regions to organize a research station on them. At the end of the expedition’s work at thirty-two ice airfields, he was the last to leave the work area and made a non-stop flight to the North Pole Moscow ... "

From 1953 to 1956, Kuznetsov was the commander of the Air Force of the 4th Navy, then senior military adviser to the commander of aviation of the Navy of the People’s Republic of China, and upon returning to his homeland, he was an employee of the research group under the Commander-in-Chief of the USSR Navy. Since August 1959, Air Lieutenant General A. A. Kuznetsov - in stock.
He was elected as a deputy of the Council of Nationalities (from the RSFSR) of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 3rd convocation (1950-1954) [1] and the Supreme Council of the Lithuanian SSR.
He died on August 7, 1966 . He was buried in the city of Moscow at the Vvedensky cemetery (plot 21) [2] .
Rewards
- For courage and bravery shown in the performance of a military duty, Major General of Aviation Alexander Alekseevich Kuznetsov, by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated December 6, 1949, was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal (No. 6612).
- He was awarded three more orders of Lenin, four orders of the Red Banner, medals and personalized weapons.
