Overview

The series narrated about the farmer and the patriarch of the family Charles Ingalls ( Michael Landon ) and his wife Caroline ( Karen Grassl ), who raised four daughters, and then took three more adopted children. Unlike the book, the television series has a number of minor characters playing a prominent role in the plot, making the project one of the longest-running shows for a family audience [2] .

Although the series was considered primarily a drama, it had many comedic aspects, mostly revolving around minor characters. The main focus of the series was on topics of family values, love, friendship and faith. The lead actor, Michael Landon, directed most of the episodes of the series, and he shot 87 of the 203 episodes. William F. Claxton shot 67, and Victor French 19 episodes. The title of the series, “The Little House,” was written by composer David Rose.

The series itself in 1977 was nominated for the Golden Globe , and Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert were nominated for awards in 1979 and 1981, respectively [3] . The project also won several awards " People 's Choice " and " Young Actor " [3] .
