Selection Process

Overview

Castings for the second season are very similar to castings for the first season, except that there was a beep when the X-button was pressed. When all the judges pressed the X-buttons, one blue color was displayed in the number, indicating that it had been crossed out. Unlike the previous season, the numbers that passed the audition then visit the camp in Las Vegas, where they have the opportunity to improve their skills. At the moment, the numbers are divided into 2 groups, musical and diverse. Musical numbers consist of singers and instrumental groups. A diverse group consists of other rooms. Musical numbers were the first to perform, then various numbers followed. Each number will be performed within three minutes, and their performance does not stop until the judges press the buttons. After the completion of each group, the judges will separate the groups on the lines, either the yes or no lines. Those judges who say yes are on the short list of 35 appearances. Those who say no go home. After that, the judges will shorten the list from 35 to 25 final numbers.

In the semifinal episodes, 20 numbers will be divided into 2 groups of 10 each. America will vote and remove 5 from the first and 5 from the second group. The remaining 10 numbers will perform head to head in the next round, where the field will narrow until there are 4 numbers left for which spectators vote at home. In the second season, the judges can stop the performance each time if they want to press the buttons. Verified ones drop out of the project, and judges can only comment. There is not a choice of judges this season, but the vote is completely transmitted to the audience.

Season 1 Differences

Unlike the first season, in which the numbers after listening were divided into 4 groups and the road went straight to the finals, the numbers went to the Las Vegas camp, where participants could improve their skills. In Las Vegas, the numbers were divided into 2 groups, “musical” and “diverse”. The judges selected 35 numbers from both groups to create their short list; after that (without additional appearances after the first division of talents), the judges chose 20 numbers for the semi-finals.

In the semifinals of the first season within each group of 14 or 15 numbers, only 10 could have performed. In the second season, the remaining numbers were divided into 2 groups of 10 in each. America excluded 5 numbers from each group. The remaining 10 competed head-to-head with the elimination of the project every week.

There is no longer a “choice of judges” as well as white flags to indicate approval. Judges can still press the X-buttons during a participant’s performance, but this rarely happens, since only Morgan used her button in the semi-finals of the second season (although, as a joke, Hasselhoff spread the rumors of Luigi Padilla, like Boy Britney after his speech in the semifinals).

Previews

Dallas Auditions

The first round (06/05/2007)

Numbers that have been excluded include:

  • Tony La Brea , took off his robe and sang shirtless, wore a collar, tie and cuffs. After his speech, the judges noticed that the voice was similar to the voice of singer Berry White. However, from the moment they took off their shirt, the judges removed it using the X-buttons. He sang the song “Don't Cha” by The Pussycat Dolls.
  • Adam Aaron Michaels , imitator of Elvis Presley, the judges expelled him immediately after his release. Then he had one more chance, but was again excluded after singing the first lines of the song “Release Me”. David commented on the fact that they considered his desire "his release."
  • Erica Marx , the 12-year-old singer who sang Jennifer Holliday’s song “And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going”. Morgan says she is trying to copy the style of last year’s winner Bianca Ryan, who sang the same song.
  • Mr. Bill , the bus driver, sang “Climb Every Mountain” from the movie “Sound Of Music”. At the end of his speech, Morgan noticed that if the show had been condemned separately, he would have won the competition.
  • Human Slinky , a male acrobat with a covered large coil for appendages. David created a link to the dance column on stage.
  • Ari Marx , violinist. Her husband Nicholas Marx competed separately this season and moved on to the next round. In the first season, they auditioned for a duet.
  • Breeze , 9, performed cheerleading in a competing routine. All the judges pressed the buttons, and Morgan said that her mother should have pressed the button during her speech. Spring escorted her mother to the stage and said, "She is not here for trial." In response to comments, Morgan Osbourne said that she left the show because of the audience and returned to her dressing room. Morgan followed her and talked through the closet doors. When they heard that the rival is still waiting for her on stage, she returned to the court table and apologized to her.
  • Sam Adu , sang the song "I Wish" by Steve Wonder.
  • Bronzon Gold (Tom Zemke) , disco dancer. He told the judges that his dance was a combination of old and new movements, but Osborne noted that she saw all the movements that he made.
  • Bob Moore and his Amazing Mongrels did tricks with 10 dogs that he saved from a homeless animal shelter. Pierce indicated that 2 dogs out of a dozen did nothing.
  • David and Joel Letterman ("The Pec Brothers") , strained their pectoral muscles under the motive of the composition "Dueling Banjos". The judges laughed, but excluded them.

  • 8 out of 10 finalists were eligible to sing as part of their performance, or as solo singers, bands, or (the case of Fator) ventriloquism as part of the show. This is contrasted with a wide variety of numbers where the finalists of the first season were.
  • To listen to and call back the show, an audience could participate through the game “Lucky X”. Viewers were asked to select which judges would press the X-button. All the correct answers were included in a random drawing with three winners with a win of $ 10,000 per episode. Entries were taken online at NBC.com and by text message.
  • White buttons for activating the check from the last season are still present on the referee table, despite this they dropped out of the game.
  • Morgan spread rumors about at least one member from each episode, excluding the finale.
  • As in previous seasons, the final division of the participants included people who included singing in their numbers.
