Proceedings
The scientific and literary activity of Veria was very extensive, but only reached us:
- debris (on marble) from the calendar compiled by him for the city of Prenesta , where a statue of Verria was erected on the square,
- excerpts from his vocabulary “On the Meaning of Words” ( De verborum significatu , explanatory dictionary, including obscure and outdated words and expressions, with data on the state, legal and religious life of Rome ), in the processing of Festus and Paul the Deacon ( VIII century ) .
In addition, there are references to his lost works:
- "On the dark expressions of Cato " (De obscuris Catonis), who lived almost 2 centuries before Verri;
- “On spelling” (De orthographia), by virtue of which spelling has been considered as grammatical discipline;
- “Letters on philological questions” (Epistulae);
- Saturnus, an essay on religious antiquities;
- “Etruscans” (Res Etruscae), where, apparently, the influence of this people on the Romans was considered;
- "Memorable" (Rerum memoria dignarum libri), where the Verry carried especially interesting facts. Pliny the Elder used this work for his Natural History .
