Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is an Indian elite higher research and educational institution in Bangalore , in which scientists with a scientific degree are mainly employed.

General information

The Indian Scientific Institute employs more than 2 thousand scientists who collect material for their doctoral work in 48 different areas of modern science, as well as defending doctoral dissertations on topics ranging from aerospace technologies and molecular biophysics to modern management. IISc is the leader among Indian academic institutions in the number of scientific publications and, according to the rating of the SJTU Institute (PRC), in 2004 earned the title of the best university in India.

The Indian Scientific Institute was founded in 1909, back in British India, on the initiative of the prominent Indian industrialist and philanthropist Jamsheji Tata and with the direct participation of the English Nobel laureate, Professor William Ramzai . His first Indian director was a Nobel Prize winner Sir C.V. Raman .

Organization

Departments and departments of the Indian Scientific Institute are divided into 2 parts - scientific and engineering. The scientific group includes the following departments:

Tata Memorial Library, the National Center for Scientific Information, the Supercomputer Development and Education Center, the Bioinformation Center, the Center digital information services, Central Archive.
