Savva (Bishop of Tver)

Bishop Savva - Bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church , the seventeenth bishop of Tver .

Biography

Prior to the bishopric, hegumened in the monasteries of the Pskov diocese : from 1563 - in the Snetogorsky Nativity of the Virgin - Bogoroditsky monastery and from 1571 - in the Pskov-Pechersk monastery . In the latter, during his reign, on the orders of Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich IV , the wonderworking Pskovo-Pechersk Icon of the Dormition of the Mother of God was lined with gold [1] .

At the beginning of 1572 , hegumen Sawa was ordained a bishop of Tver .

April 29 of the same year was present at the council, which allowed the fourth marriage to Tsar John Vasilyevich.

He ruled the diocese until 1573. There is no information about his death.
