Biography

Born in Bohemia in a family with deep artistic traditions. His grandfather and father, as well as the sons of Hugo Melville and Garisson were famous artists.

The first painting lessons received from his father. At the age of 20 he emigrated to the USA. In 1874 he settled in New York . In 1886, he and his wife moved to California in the city of Alameda. He created a studio in San Francisco and constantly getting there on the ferry, made watercolor landscape sketches of local neighborhoods, marshes, rivers, grazing cows.

In 1894 he moved to Hawaii and opened his own workshop with Honolulu , but at the end of 1896 he left Hawaii and returned to the mainland.

The works of Hugo Fisher were very popular, especially in oils. A large number of paintings by the artist died during an earthquake in San Francisco in 1906.

Currently, the surviving works of Hugo Anton Fisher are very valuable, are in great demand among collectors. So, one of the great oil paintings overlooking Hawaii at the Butterfields auction was sold for nearly $ 40,000.
