Rugby Parma
The university team was created in 1931 by Gianni Penzi, Mario Pirazzoli and Peter Dzini. For several years, students participated in friendly matches, and in 1935 Parma joined the clubs of the First Division of Italy. The club gained independence from academic structures in 1946.
In the fifties, Parma swiftly became the strongest team in Italy (1949/50, 1954/55, 1956/57). The next decade brought the club two victories in the youth championship (1961/62, 1966/67). According to the results of the seasons 1973/74 and 1987/88, the team lost the right to participate in the major league. However, in both cases the very next year the Parma rugby players returned to the elite level. In 1993-1998. Parma played in Series A2. Then there was a return to Serie A, soon renamed Super 10 .
On June 2, 2006 Parma outplayed the Welsh Newport Gwent Dragons with a score of 24-15. The winner of the match entered the group stage of the Heineken Cup 2006/07. This victory was the first such achievement in the history of Italian rugby. Thus, in the next European season, Italy was represented by three teams (like Wales and Ireland).
Kroshati
The club was formed in June 2010 by combining the teams “Rugby Parma” and “Rugby Nocheto”. [1] A professional team has been created within the club, playing in the Super 10 Championship (now Championship of Excellence), and a team for young athletes (not older than 20 years), while both Parma and Nochet have separate junior teams. In the 2010/11 season, the club also participated in the Emlyn Cup.
The need for unification became apparent after the creation of the Ironi club, which performed in Pro12 . The management of Parma and Nochet possessed blocks of shares of Ironi. Since the leading players and the main financial flows were directed specifically to the team of the major league, the clubs could no longer ensure the functioning of two teams at once.
Also in June 2010, other Italian teams came together: the main resources of Gran Parma, Rugby Viadana and Rugby Colorno concentrated in the new structure of GranDucato Parma Rugby.
