Biography

Before the revolution, he served in artillery. When the news came of the capture of the Bastille , together with friends, he formed a detachment of volunteers and took possession of Angers Castle .

In 1790 he became a public prosecutor in the Department of Mena and Loire. As a deputy from the same department in the legislative assembly , he participated in the military committee .

July 23, 1792 he read from the rostrum a petition of his voters, demanding the deposition of Louis XVI . In the convention, he joined the Party of the Mountains and voted for the execution of the king.

In 1793, the republican government entrusted him with various military operations. After the 9th Thermidor, he was briefly the head of the department of the War Department under Bernadotte ; All the rest of the time until 1814 he spent in exile in Holland .

Returning to France, in 1816 he again underwent scription as a regicide, and retired to Brussels , where he lived in extreme poverty. After the July Revolution, he returned to France.

Creativity

In the last years of his life he worked on the “History of the Revolution”; his notes stop on March 16, 1793. Bord's Revue de la Révolution published some excerpts from his Notes.
