(334) Chicago is the asteroid on the outside of the main belt , which was discovered on August 23, 1892 by the German astronomer Max Wolf at the Heidelberg Observatory and named after Chicago , the third most populous American city in the United States and the largest transportation hub in North America [ 1] .
