Ham minesweepers , also known as Type 1 class minesweepers, are British Royal Navy minesweepers that were built in the 1950s. The name type "Ham" in this case meant that the names of all minesweepers of this type should end in "ham". Samuel White from the Isle of Wight was involved in the construction of the minesweepers. Intended for carrying out trawling operations in rivers and estuaries .

History
From 1954 to 1959, 93 ships were built, the head of which was the Inglesham . All minesweepers were divided into three subtypes: the first subtype included minesweepers, whose tail numbers began with the numbers 26, and the second and third subtypes included minesweepers, whose tail numbers began with the numbers 27. Subtype-26 ships were made of wood and non-magnetic steel, and the ships of subtype-27 are only made of wood, and at the subtype-27 a girder was slightly protruding, and the minesweepers of this subtype themselves were larger in size. Wood was used to minimize the effect of a magnetic field on a ship.
The displacement of each minesweeper was 164 tons, they were armed with either 40-mm Swedish Bofors guns or 20-mm Swiss Oerlikon guns. The crew included from 15 people (in peacetime) to 22 people (in case of martial law). Two Paxman engines, licensed by Rasto & Hornsby, produced 550 hp each. each and allowed to develop speeds of up to 14 knots. However, most often the minesweeper did not exceed a speed of 9 knots during the performance of a combat mission. The armament was exactly the same as that of minesweepers of the Li type or rescue vessels of the Echo type.
