West Hartford is a prestigious suburb of Hartford. The city has a central part formed by the intersection of Farmington Avenue and North and South Main Street. The center abounds with boutiques, restaurants and bank offices.
The city has two universities: the University of Hartford and the University of St. Joseph .
In 2010, Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine named West Hartford one of the “10 best cities of the nation for families” [2] and “10 best cities of the next decade” [3] . In 2010, CNN Money website assigned West Hartford 55th place in the ranking of the best small cities in the United States [4] . In 2010, the national online magazine travelandleisure.com named West Hartford one of the 10 best suburbs of the nation.
