Shevardnadze, Sofiko Paatovna

Sofiko Shevardnadze was born on September 23, 1978 in Tbilisi, in the family of lawyer Paata Shevardnadze, her father is the granddaughter of Eduard Shevardnadze . Mother - Nino Guramovna, a housewife. Sisters - Mariam and Nanuli, brother Lasha.

In childhood, from 6 to 10 years old, she studied ballet, then, at the insistence of her parents, she mastered playing the piano. Studied at the conservatory in Paris; in 2001 she graduated from Boston University (directing); in 2005 - New York University (journalism) ^{[1] [2]} .

She started as an assistant and public relations assistant with Eduard Shevardnadze. In 2001-2003 - the producer of the American ABC channel, in 2004 - the correspondent of the Georgian television program “The Other Day”. Since 2005, she has been working on the Russia Today channel, has hosted news, the Interview program ^{[2] [1]} , and runs the SophieCo program.

From 2006 to February 2015, she was the host of the Ekho Moskvy radio station and hosted the Do-It-Yourself and Cover-1 programs. Live radio stations discussed with guests relevant political topics, events in Russia and abroad. Shevardnadze was characterized by a tough, acute-polemic manner of communicating with a studio guest, suggesting unexpected, paradoxical, often confusing questions, traps, revealing contradictions in the position of the interlocutor ^{[3] [4]} .

Since September 2016, along with musician Sergei Shnurov ^[5] , and since November, sometimes with Rosa Syabitova ^{[6], she} has been conducting a talk show “About Love” on Channel One , dedicated to solving family problems. From November to December 2017, she was one of the presenters of the Babi Riot program ^[7] on the same TV channel.

Sofiko is not married. He has a two-room apartment in a house built in 1914 on the Patriarch's Ponds in Moscow, the interior of which was designed by childhood friend Sofiko, designer George Chaushba. In the apartment, according to the designer, the echoes of the French, Georgian and Russian traditions are audible - all of which Sofiko’s life is woven from ^[11] .

According to Sofiko's own admission, one day she ran away from her groom on the eve of the wedding. This happened at the age of 21, when Shevardnadze lived in New York, met with a young Georgian director, was engaged to him, introduced him to his grandfather, and even announced his upcoming marriage. She was going to get married, but about a month before the wedding she suddenly realized that she was not ready to live with this person all her life. Later she met with actor Alexei Chadov . Since then, in life he has been guided by the aphorism of Shota Rustaveli “Love must be hidden like a stolen horse” ^[2] .

In early 2011, she became the godmother of her nephew Edward, the son of Lasha’s brother, who lives in London ^{[12] [1]} .
