Located on the river Uftug . The distance to the regional center of Ustia by road is 43 km. The nearest settlements are Krylovo , Pogost Trifon , Kurkinskaya , Ovrigino .
The first mention of Berezhnoy refers to 1642 [2] . In 2000, the village of Klimovskoye was attached to the village of Berezhnoye ; the united settlement was named the village of Berezhnoye [3] .
According to the 2002 census, the population is 665 people (316 men, 349 women). The predominant nationality is Russian (99%) [4] .
There are 10 trading enterprises in the village, the Berezhnoye collective farm, electrical substation, forestry, fire department, housing and communal services sector, kindergarten, secondary school, culture center, library, outpatient clinic, post office, telephone exchange. There is a bus service [2] .
