Small Prague pennies - a small silver coin with a diameter of 15-16 mm, weighing about 0.5 g, made of 544 silver.

The coin was minted by the Czech king Vaclav II in 1300 . Introduced in Bohemia simultaneously with Prague or a penny. It was produced until 1327, then it was replaced by a geller .

On the obverse of the coin was an image of the Czech crown, on the reverse side - a Czech heraldic lion. During the reign of Johann of Luxembourg and Emperor Charles IV, the image of the Czech crown was changed to the image of the crown of Czech St. Wenceslas . During the reign of King Wenceslas IV, his royal profile was applied to the coin.

Prague pennies and pre-existing denarii were of great importance for the country's money circulation, but because of their large face value they were practically inaccessible to the general population. In this regard, a coin of a smaller denomination, the Prague Small Parvus, was put into circulation. 12 Prague parvuses were equal to 1 Prague penny. Parvus differed from a penny with a simpler inscription on one side.

The coin was widely circulated in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe : the Czech Republic , Poland , Hungary , Lithuania , the Principality of Galicia-Volyn , Germany and Austria .
