Recorded in 1971 at the studio ( Los Angeles ), where the group previously recorded songs for three albums. “Children of the Grave” continues the anti-war theme launched in the songs “ War Pigs ” and “ Electric Funeral ” from the album “ Paranoid ”. The song was included in the soundtrack of the games Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock [1] and Brütal Legend . The special edition of the Master of Reality album included an instrumental version of the song and a version with alternative lyrics [2] .
Critics' ratings
Allmusic resource critic Stephen called the Children of the Grave riff the best from the album, along with the Sweet Leaf riff [3] . Lester Bangs in an article for Rolling Stone noted that the song is good for those who prefer the “secular” side of Black Sabbath [4] . Mike Stagno in the review of Master of Reality spoke positively about the composition, noting that having chosen the average rhythm , the band members use many tricks typical of early heavy metal. In his opinion, the song received something good from each of the members of the group [5] .
