History
Modern Sovetskaya Street was previously part of Zakharyevskaya Street (now - Independence Avenue ). The right side of the street was built up in 1875-1908. The left - odd - finally took shape in 1976 .
After the reconstruction of Independence Square and the opening in 2006 of the underground shopping center "Capital", most of Sovetskaya Street became a pedestrian.
Location
It originates from the intersection with Bobruisk Street , passes along Independence Square and rests against the building of the Minsk Hotel .

On Sovetskaya Street are located the Government House , the Red Church , and the Pedagogical University .
