Biography
Grimoald I came from the Agilolfing clan. He was the son of Garibald I , the first known by the name of the Duke of Bavaria , and Waldrad , daughter of the Lombard king Wajo . Brother of the Duke of Bavaria Tassilon I , Duke of Asti (p. 589) Gundoald and the Lombard Queen Theodelinda .
The Frankish king Hildebert II overthrew Grimoald together with his father Garibald I and raised in their place in 591 or 593 the brother of Grimoald Tassilon I with the title " rex ".
