Chamber Orchestra of South-West Germany ( German: Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim , often the Pforzheim Chamber Orchestra ) is a German chamber orchestra based in Pforzheim . It was founded in 1950 by the conductor Friedrich Tilegant and originally consisted mainly of his students.
From the very beginning, the collective specialized mainly in the performance of baroque music; the most famous recordings of the Pforzheim chamber orchestra conducted by Telegant himself were Brandenburg Concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach and the works of Georg Philipp Telemann . At the same time, the orchestra turned to modern music: for example, in 1967 he performed the premiere of the Concert for Guitar and Orchestra by Caesar Bresgen (soloist Barn Kovacs ), among other premieres of the orchestra - works by Boris Blacher , Harald Gentsmer , Jean France . In 1960, the orchestra took part in the Salzburg Festival , in 1964 made a tour to the GDR .
