The Boguslavsky Hydrological and Hydrochemical Hospital of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is an educational and scientific unit in the city of Boguslav (city) of the Kiev Region on the Ros River ( Dnieper basin, forest-steppe zone).
It is used to conduct summer training practices in hydrometry and field hydrochemistry of 2nd year students of the Department of Hydrology and Hydroecology of the Geography Department of the University and to conduct experimental research work on hydrology and hydrochemistry at small watersheds.
The hospital was founded in 1981 on the initiative of the head of the Department of Hydrology and Hydrochemistry, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine V.I. Peleshenko .
Research
In 1985, V.K. Candidate of Geographical Sciences was appointed the scientific supervisor of hydrological and hydrochemical studies at the Boguslavsky Hydrological and Hydrochemical Hospital (BHHG), a senior researcher at the problematic research laboratory of hydrochemistry . Khilchevsky , who since 2000 became the head of the Department of Hydrology and Hydrochemistry (since 2002 - the Department of Hydrology and Hydroecology). Based on the materials of hydrological and hydrochemical studies of the river waters of Russia , small watersheds (the Butenya and Boguslavka rivers), surface-slope runoff (hollows in the fields, in the forest, drainage sites), precipitation samples, methods were developed to assess the effect of agrochemicals on the quality of river waters , new data were obtained on the content and regime of major ions, nutrients and trace elements in the waters of the surface slope runoff. University staff prepared and defended candidate and doctoral dissertations in the specialty 11.00.07 - land hydrology , water resources , hydrochemistry (S.I. Snezhko, V.V. Greben, V.K. Khilchevsky , V.I. Osadchiy). The results of studies on BGGS were used when writing a monograph on p. Ros , published in the scientific collection " Hydrology, hydrochemistry and hydroecology ." Scientific research is carried out in collaboration with scientists of the Ukrainian Research Hydrometeorological Institute of the Ministry of Emergencies of Ukraine and the NAS of Ukraine .
Training Practice
The hydrometric practice of students of the Department of Hydrology and Hydroecology of the Geography Department of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv provides for deepening knowledge on the lecture course " Hydrometry " and for students to obtain river water temperature.
Field hydrochemical practice provides for the deepening of knowledge on the lecture course "Fundamentals of Hydrochemistry ", the acquisition of practical skills in the selection and labeling of water samples, the determination of the chemical composition of various types of natural waters, and the conduct of hydrochemical surveys of the Ros site; familiarization with the work of the water station in Boguslav and urban wastewater treatment plants . For more than 20 years since the founding of the BGS, the assistant professor N.G. Galushchenko, associate professors S.S. Dubnyak and V.N. Savitsky.
Students of the department of geodesy and cartography of the geographical faculty of the university are also practicing at the hospital; in previous years, students of the department of meteorology and climatology , cadet cartographers of the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv .
