Career
Born in 1959 in the city of El Monte (a suburb of Los Angeles , California ). At the age of 14, Rob presented his illustrations to makeup specialist Rick Baker , who immediately recruited him as his assistant and student. Rob collaborated with Baker in various films, but his first independent work was the creation of the process of transformation from a man into a werewolf in the movie " Howl " (1981).
While working on John Carpenter ’s film “ Something ” (1982), Rob lived right on the set, working seven days a week for a year (for which he received the nickname “Robot” from his colleagues, in tune with his name Ro bottin). There he slept in the scenery and laboratories, and upon completion of the project, Carpenter sent him to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with extreme exhaustion. Rob vowed never to work so much again.
Before “Something,” Rob Bottin also worked with Carpenter in the movie “ Fog ” (1980), in which he was cast as an actor, starring as Captain Blake .
