K + S AG (formerly Kali und Salz AG) is a Kassel -based German potash and mining company and one of the world's leading suppliers of potash and magnesium products for agricultural and industrial use. K + S AG is currently the world leader in the production of ammonium sulfate , as well as the second largest supplier of special fertilizers in Europe. K + S mainly works in Europe and South America and employs about 14,000 people (2014). Through mergers and acquisitions, K + S AG, the main still of the 1890s, united the entire German potash industry. Between 1971 and 1993, the company was part of the BASF group, which is still the main shareholder. In 2011, a turnover of 5.15 billion euros and a net profit of 582 million euros were achieved. K + S subsidiaries are primarily associated with the marketing of their products, and the disposal and recycling of household waste.

K + S AG shares are listed on the German DAX stock exchange .
K + S was founded in 1889 as the Aktiengesellschaft für Bergbau und Tiefbohrung and was renamed Salzdetfurth AG in 1899. After the merger with Wintershall in 1973, the company was renamed Kali und Salz ( Russian potassium and salt ).
In 1999, the company was renamed K + S. K + S expands internationally and is represented in 15 countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom in Europe, Chile in South America and Canada and USA in North America.
In 2009, she bought the American company Morton Salt ( English ), becoming the largest salt producer in the world. [one]
