History
On June 7, 1980, Pope John Paul II released the bull Venerabilibus Fratribus , which established the Diocese of Bubanza, separating it from the Diocese of Bujumbura (today - the Archdiocese). On the same day, the diocese of Bubanza entered the metropolis of Gitega .
On November 25, 2006, the Diocese of Bubanza entered the Metropolitanate of Bujumbura.
