Vogt, Jean

Jean Vogt ( French Jean German Vogt , real name Johann Vogt , sometimes Fogt ; January 17, 1823 , Gross-Tintz , now Legnitsky County , Poland - July 31, 1888 , Eberswalde ) - German pianist, musical teacher and composer.

He studied in Berlin with August Wilhelm Bach and Eduard August Grell , then studied organ playing in Breslau with Johann Julius Seidel and Adolf Friedrich Hesse . In 1850 - 1855 He lived and worked in St. Petersburg as an organist and piano teacher, then worked for some time in Dresden . In 1865 - 1871 taught in Berlin at the Stern Conservatory , then worked for two seasons in New York, after which he returned to Berlin.

Among the compositions of Vogt stood the oratorio "Lazarus"; he also owns a piano trio and numerous pieces for his instrument.
