Ideas about the taxonomy of heteronemertin at the family level are currently unstable [1] . According to the World Register of Marine Species database, 7 genera are assigned to Valenciniidae [2] :
- Baseodiscus Diesing, 1850 - about 40 species;
- Cephalomastax Iwata, 1957 - the only species of Cephalomastax brevis ;
- Chilineus Friedrich, 1970 - the only species of Chilineus grandulosus ;
- Kukumia Gibson et Sundberg, 2002 - the only species of Kukumia solomonensis ;
- Poliopsis Joubin, 1890 - the only species of Poliopsis lacazei ;
- Uchidana Iwata, 1967 - the only species of Uchidana parasita , symbionts of bivalve mollusks;
- Valencinia Quatrefages, 1846 - 4 species.
