Physical Properties

Rubidium orthophosphate forms colorless crystals.

It is well soluble in water, the aqueous solution has an alkaline reaction due to anion hydrolysis .

It is slightly soluble in absolute ethanol , but it is soluble already in azeotropic ethanol.

Forms crystalline hydrate Rb ₃ PO ₄ • 4H ₂ O.

Chemical Properties

The solution has a strongly alkaline reaction and reacts with aluminum :
