On August 16, 1914, in a battle near the village of Travniki in the Lublin province, he was wounded by shrapnel shrapnel in his stomach and leg. He died on August 17.
The burial took place on September 30, 1914 in Moscow at the cemetery of the Novodevichy Convent .
