Ersanjan [1] [2] [3] or Ersindjan [1] [2] ( Persian ارسنجان ) is a city in the south of Iran , in the province of Fars . The administrative center of the shahrestan is Ersenjan .

Geography
The city is located in the eastern part of Fars, in the highlands of southeastern Zagros , at an altitude of 1638 meters above sea level [1] . Ersenjan is located approximately 80 kilometers northeast of Shiraz , the provincial capital and 660 kilometers southeast (SSE) of Tehran , the country's capital.
In the vicinity of the city, crops , fruits , and opium poppy are grown [4] . Carpet weaving is developed [4] .
Population
According to the census, in 2006 the population was 17,642 people [3] ; Representatives of the Persian-speaking tribe Bāṣerī prevail in the national composition [4] , in the confessional - Shiite Muslims .
