Wad (mineral)

Wad (Vadit) is the common name for minerals - earthy mixtures of manganese hydroxides . It mainly consists of pyrolyusitis and psilomelan . The chemical composition is variable. The content of MnO + MnO 2 32–75%, H 2 O 10-21%. Color from dark brown to black. Hardness low, max. - up to 4. Density 2,8-4,4. Highly porous. Wad refers to the hypergene formations typical of weathering crusts and oxidation zones of oxides, carbonate and silicate ores of Mn . There are aluminum alloys, tungsten, ferruginous, cobalt, lithium, copper (copper) and others.

Wad is manganese ore . In Ukraine, in the Nikopol manganese deposit. It is enriched with combined gravity-flotation schemes ( flushing , depositing , magnetic separation and flotation ) [1] .
