Description
Small butterflies with a wingspan of 8-20 mm, usually variegated. The antennae are long, filiform, slightly shorter than the front wings. Some species have three pairs of developed bundles of scales on the wings. The front wings are elongated. Caterpillars develop under the bark, in the buds and fruits of shrubs and trees.
Systematics
The taxonomy of the family remains debatable. According to one of them, this family includes only 4 species in the only genus Agonoxena . According to another, this family also includes about 126 species in the genera Chrysoclista , Microcolona and Zaratha , distinguished by supporters of the first version of the classification in a separate family Blastodacnidae .
Range
The range of representatives of the genus includes Australia , Indonesia and Oceania . Species belonging to the sometimes isolated family Blastodacnidae also inhabit the Palearctic .
