Biography
Born in a Greek family. He graduated from secondary school No. 25 of Tyumen , the Pacific Higher Naval School named after S.O. Makarov (1952-1956), the Naval Academy (1970-1972), the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces named after K.E. Voroshilov ( 1983-1985).
- 1951-1952 - a sailor,
- 1956-1964 - commander of a tower, command group, main-division battalion БЧ-2 of the light cruiser "Kalinin" of the Pacific Fleet,
- 1964-1968 - senior assistant commander, destroyer commander "The Expendables",
- 1969-1970 - commander of the large anti-submarine ship "Strict",
- 1972-1973 - chief of staff of the destroyer brigade in Kamchatka,
- 1973-1977 - commander of the destroyer brigade in Kamchatka,
- 1977-1979 - Chief of Staff of the 8th operational squadron of the Pacific Fleet in the Indian Ocean,
- 1979-1982 - commander of the 8th operational squadron of the Pacific Fleet in the Indian Ocean, rear admiral.
- In May 1980, he led the joint Soviet-South Yemeni exercises on the landing of naval landing on the island of Socotra (NDRY).
- 1982-1983 - First Deputy Commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Vice Admiral,
- 1985-1991 - commander of the Black Sea Fleet. Member of the Military Council of the Allied Forces of the Warsaw Treaty member countries (1985-1991). In 1988, under his leadership, the American cruiser Yorktown and the destroyer Karon, which violated them, were expelled from the territorial waters of the USSR . In 1991, he was accused of supporting the Emergency Committee , dismissed "on health grounds" on March 17, 1992.
He was the chairman of the Crimean Fellowship societies and Admiral F. F. Ushakov (1985-1991), and the representative of the government of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in Moscow (1999-2003).
Awards and titles
He was awarded the orders of the October Revolution, the Red Banner, the Red Star, "For Service to the Homeland in the Armed Forces of the USSR" of the II and III degrees and 21 medals, 4 of them are foreign, the Great Peace Fund Gold Medal.
