Background

The idea of the fight lasted more than two years. After David Haye became the absolute world champion in the first heavyweight in 2008, he switched to heavyweight in order to take possession of all the belts in the most elite weight category. The fight Haye expressed a desire to spend either with Vitali , then with Vladimir Klitschko, but for various reasons the fight was canceled. As a result, during this period, Vladimir Klitschko managed to win another title, The Ring, and David Haye entered the title fight with the holder of the WBA championship belt, Nikolai Valuev , and defeated him. After that, all the belts, with the exception of the title of Hay, were in the hands of the Klitschko brothers , and the significance of this battle increased even more. On April 16, 2009, images appeared on the Internet in which David Haye holds the severed heads of the Klitschko Brothers standing on their decapitated bodies. At several conferences, Haye appeared with a T-shirt on which this picture was depicted. The popularity of the match was growing. In the end, an agreement was reached. The fight was scheduled for July 2, 2011. The general retardation of the negotiations was explained by disagreements in financial aspects. The fee was eventually divided in a ratio of 50% to 50%.

Duel

Before the fight there was a spectacular performance in which many famous boxers participated. The match promised to be interesting. The whole battle was in great tension. Klitschko tried to keep Haye jab, he sometimes tried to counterattack. Haye’s attacks were quite rare, and the main part of the fight, the British masterfully avoided the blows and attacks of the Ukrainian, demonstrating their speed and defense technique. Haye often slipped and appealed to the referee, drawing his attention to the fact that Klitschko allegedly violates the rules. In the 7th round, this even led to the result: the referee took one point from Vladimir. In the 11th round, after another fall, the referee recorded that there was a blow and counted a knockdown to Hayu. The battle was in many ways similar to the previous unifying fight of Klitschko with Sultan Ibragimov . For Hay, as for Ibragimov, the jab of Vladimir Klitschko became a serious obstacle. The speed of the british did not help him outplay Vladimir Klitschko’s technical skills. After 12 rounds, Vladimir Klitschko was deservedly declared the winner by unanimous decision [4] [5] .

Michael Pernik set the result 118-108, Adalaid Bird - 117-109, and Stanley Kristodulu - 116-110, all in favor of Klitschko.
