Civil banquet ( French banquet civique ) - a feast, a banquet , in order to give the opportunity to those who collectively express their ideas and aspirations common to all of them and testify to society their unity and cohesion. So, on July 14, 1790, an open-air banquet was held in Paris , at which the Marquis Lafayette played the main role, then on July 26, 1792 a similar feast took place on the ruins of the Bastille .
An example of the capital was soon followed by provincial cities, where banquets also began to be arranged, although on a smaller scale, but in the second year of the republic they were banned by the government.
