The sailing boat Vorien was designed in France in 1952 by the French yacht designer Jean-Jacques Erbullot. “Vorien” in the French language has several meanings, such as: “pigeon”, “hang”, “loafer”, “worthless, extremely suspicious person”.
Despite the frivolous name, the small sailboat gained unprecedented popularity in France and continental Europe.
The reason was the technological design of marine plywood and a successful balanced project with excellent seaworthiness.
Soon, an inexpensive boat became a party to sailing regattas. This was facilitated by the completely identical design of all yachts and strict measurement rules that do not allow deviations. With a total weight of 95 kg, the dinghy was easy to raise to the shore and launch.
By 1972, when the first publication about the sailing boat Vorien appeared in the USSR, about 26 thousand of these boats were already built around the world, and European championships were held.
A distinctive feature of the Vorot sailing dinghy is its simple construction and the ability to build a yacht on its own from waterproof plywood. Specialized shipyards build Vorien from both plywood and fiberglass.
The length of the dinghy is 408 cm, width 147 cm, weight 95 kg, windage - 8 m².
A small sail allows you to control the yacht even for children, as well as develop high speeds with a strong wind and confidently plan.
But in 2008, Italian enthusiasts, guided by the conditions of Naples, registered the “International Vorjen” with a modified case and a maneuver of sailing increased to 11 meters. The spinnaker area has also been increased. According to the general opinion, the yacht in this version is not so seaworthy and less fast in a strong wind, since the sail and size of the boat are not balanced. International Vorien is not a classic Vorien designed by Jean-Jacques Erbullot. International Vorien is a completely different yacht, with a narrow age and weather range.
