Patrol boats of the Mirna type

Patrol boats of the Mirna type ( Croatian Ophodni brodovi klase Mirna ) are Yugoslav and Croatian patrol boats built at the Kralevitsa shipyard in 1979-1985 and were in service with the Navy of Yugoslavia and Croatia. A total of 11 such ships were built, 4 of them currently serving in the Croatian fleet. The main purpose of the service of such vessels is the protection of maritime borders, and the possibilities of combating enemy vessels in such patrol boats are significantly expanded compared to conventional boats.

Construction

The construction of boats began in 1979 and continued until 1985. During this time period, 11 boats were built in three lots (in the first 4, in the second 2, in the third 5). During the construction, changes were made to the design of the boat: instead of one 20-mm gun, it was proposed to install four of these guns at once. The hull was exactly the same as that of Project 401 missile boats , which allowed to reduce displacement and increase maneuverability. The crew of each boat consisted of 5 officers, 4 junior officers and 10 sailors. The boats “OB-01 Novigrad” (formerly PČ-171), “OB-02 Šolta” (formerly PČ-176), “OB-03 Cavtat” (formerly PČ-180) and “OB-04 Hrvatska Kostajnica ”(formerly PČ-181).

Features

Physical

Boat "OB-01 Novigrad" (tail number 61)

The waterproof case is entirely made of steel, the superstructure is made of aluminum glory. The hull itself with six watertight bulkheads is divided into 7 compartments, which increases the stability of the ship in battle. Length 32 m, width 6.75 m, height 3.5 m, draft 1.7 m. The main power plant consists of two Pielsick 12PA4V200VGDS twin-diesel engines. They give a power of 2206 kW and a speed of up to 28 knots (at 1,500 engine revolutions per minute). The boat can carry 16.2 tons of D-2 fuel and up to 4.2 tons of drinking water. Cruising range is about 600 miles, autonomy - 4 days in peacetime and up to 8 days during hostilities.

Armory

Automatic gun mount M71 Hispano 4 x 20 mm

The navigation equipment includes Decca RM 1216 and Sperry BridgeMaster E navigation radars with a range of up to 48 km (under ideal conditions). To combat submarines (a secondary task), the Simrad SQS-5Q3D / SF sonar is used, which allows you to detect submarines in a radius of up to 1800 m (including with strong noise interference). In some cases, the boat is equipped with depth short-range bombs that are dropped from the stern of the vessel. The boat is also armed with a 40 mm Bofors D70 gun and a four-gun M71 Hispano 20 mm caliber, using missiles: 4 Strela-2M launchers and 4 Svitats lighting missiles with a caliber of 128 mm.
