Biography

He was an employee of radical magazines, in the years 1845–48 - editor of Reforme. As an editor, he published articles by Proudhon , Bakunin , Poecker , Marx and Engels .

As a participant in the revolution of 1848 , after its triumph, he became secretary, and a few days later - a member of the interim government. Elected to the National Assembly , took a place among the left.

May 11, 1848 was appointed Minister of Agriculture and Trade. He was an unconditional opponent of the June uprising , supported the dictatorship of Caveniac and the siege in Paris; however, Cavaignac did not want to keep him in the ministry, and Flocon resigned on June 26. Since then, he demanded, along with all the amnesty leftists of the June insurgents , to bring to court Louis Napoleon , etc., sometimes, however, separating from his party; for example, on September 2, 1848, he voted against the lifting of the state of siege and, when discussing the constitution, voted against Grevy’s amendment to appoint the president as a chamber.

He was not elected to the legislative assembly of 1849; in print he continued to attack the policies of the Champs Elysees .

Exiled from France after December 2, 1851 , he settled in Switzerland , where he died in poverty, not wanting to take advantage of the amnesty of 1859.

He was buried at Pere-Lachaise (section 53).
