Biography
Born in the city of Asuncion on July 23, 1962. February 20, 1982 married Emilia Alfaro.
He was elected Vice President of Paraguay in the 2008 presidential election as a partner of Fernando Lugo . After the impeachment by the Senate of Paraguay, President Lugo, on June 22, 2012, took the oath of office as president [1] . He remained in the presidency until the end of the term of Lugo in August 2013 .
He studied medicine at Asuncion National University . By profession a surgeon.
He is the brother of Julio Cesar Franco, the current senator. Four children: Luis Federico Franco, Claudia Vanessa, Ivan Alexander and Enzo Sebastian.
The Franco family owns a hospital in the city of Fernando de la Mora (Sanatorio Franco).
