Surian [1] [2] or Bawanat [1] [2] [3] ( Pers. سوریان ), Bevanat [4] is a small city in southern Iran , in the province of Fars . The administrative center of the Bevanat shakhrestan .

Geography and climate
The city is located in the northeastern part of Fars, in the highlands of southeastern Zagros , at an altitude of 2857 meters above sea level [1] . Surian is located approximately 140 kilometers northeast of Shiraz , the provincial capital and 612 kilometers southeast (SSE) of Tehran , the country's capital. The climate of the city and its environs is determined by its high mountain position and is characterized by frosty winters and relatively short and cool summers [5] . In the vicinity of the city is a conservation zone [6] .
Population
According to the census, in 2006 the population was 9,645 people [3] ; Persians predominate in the national composition [5] , in the confessional - Shiite Muslims .
