Mike O'Brien , a computer games developer, is one of the three co-founders and current president of ArenaNet and head of the Design and Content team for Guild Wars . [1] Previously, he worked as a director and lead programmer at Blizzard Entertainment , where he developed a 3D renderer for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and led the development of Battle.net . He also worked on Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness , Diablo and StarCraft , where he, among other things, developed the MPQ archive format used in all Blizzard games, starting with Diablo and ending with Heroes of the Storm . Mike O'Brien was featured as one of the most influential people in the computer and gaming industry on PC Gamer in September 1999, The Game of the Gods.

In 2000, O'Brien left Blizzard North to establish with two other former ArenaNet employees. [2]
O'Brien also developed the Apple II emulator for Windows, AppleWin , and the old DOS ASCII games, Pyro 2 .
