Falcon

Sokolovy is an urban-type settlement in the Saratov region of the Saratov region of Russia . It forms the eponymous Sokolov municipality with the status of an urban settlement as the only settlement in its composition [2]

Geography

Located on the northwestern outskirts of the city of Saratov .

History

It was founded no later than 1775 [3] .

Earlier names: the village of Preobrazhenskoye (originally - Robbery, Gorely Buerak) [3] [4] .

In 1819 a church was built (at the expense of the Saratov merchant G. Ya. Kryukov) in the name of the Transfiguration of the Lord [5] .

In 1937, the church was demolished (now the porch remains) [6] .

In 1961, by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR, the village of Razbochina was renamed the village of Sokolovy [7] .

The status of an urban-type settlement has been since 1990.
