Tulsa Rafnex (1978-1984)

Tulsa Rafnex is a former football team playing in the North American Football League (NASL) from Tulsa , Oklahoma . They played at the Skelly Stadium on the Tulsa University campus. Rafnex were regulars in the NASL playoffs and won the NASL Sokker Bowl in 1983 by defeating Toronto Blizzard at the BC Place with a 2-0 score in front of an audience of 60,051 people [1] . In total, the team had approximately equal indicators of victories and defeats. The Rafnex games constantly had attendance higher than the league average, the team set a record during 1980, when the average attendance in 19787 was maintained for more than 16 games, the total attendance that year was 316,593 people (fifth place in the league between Seattle Sounders and Washington Diplomats ). Largest attendance at the Tulsa home match took place on April 26, 1980, when 30,822 fans saw the Rafnex win 2-1 over New York Cosmos at Skelly Stadium. The highest attendance in general took place on August 26, 1979, when Rafnex met in New York in the NASL playoff game with the local Cosmos in front of a crowd of 76,031 fans [1] .
