Stavische ( Ukrainian: Stavische ) is an urban-type settlement in the Kiev region of Ukraine . The administrative center of the Stavishchensky district and the Stavishchensky village council .

Geographical position
The village of Stavische is located 136 km from Kiev , on the river Rotten Tikich .
History
Known since 1525.
During the Russo-Polish war of 1654-1667, the Stavische was one of the center of the uprising on the Right-Bank Ukraine against the Polish authorities and after a five-month siege in 1665 it was destroyed by Polish troops [2] .
In 1765, there were 354 yards in the settlement [2] .
In 1900, Stavische was a place in the Tarashchansky district of the Kiev province , which consisted of 1035 yards, a telegraph, a post office, a brick factory, 2 water and 8 windmills, a parish school, a ward, a hospital, a pharmacy, 2 Orthodox churches, a Catholic church and the synagogue [2] .
In January 1959, the population was4626 people [3] .
In January 1989, the population was 8067 people [4] .
As of January 1, 2013, the population was 6928 people [5] .

Famous People
- Branitsky, Alexander (1821-1877) - Polish traveler, entomologist, botanist, collector, philanthropist. He founded here in 1857 in his estate a botanical garden.
